2025 Toyota 4Runner New Features & Designs
The fifth generation of the Toyota 4Runner came to a close at the end of the year, as the 2025 4Runner reveal debuted in December of 2024. The sixth-gen 4Runner ushers in a new wave of technology, powertrains, and features, taking the 4Runner from a relatively low-tech converted pickup to a more modern SUV. Of course, the 4Runner still shares the same frame as the Tacoma pickup truck, affording it plenty of cargo space and off-road ability. The ethos of the 4Runner remains the same as the day it was first released, but with an updated design, it’s never looked better. We’ll preview the 2025 4Runner new features, from the paint choices to the hybrid powertrain. Be among the first to test drive the 2025 Toyota 4Runner for sale with Toyota of Bozeman!

2025 4Runner Platform & Exterior
2025 4Runner updates start with the Tacoma platform, which gets high-strength steel to increase chassis rigidity, with aluminum used in the upper body to reduce weight. The updated 4Runner also gets a range of new shocks, depending on your trim level and preference. Options include Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and Old Man Emu forged monotube shocks with remote reservoirs. On the exterior, the 4Runner retains the classic square-jawed look with handsome styling that remains instantly recognizable. 2025 also sees the 4Runner get a run of new paint colors and accessories! Our favorite 2025 4Runner colors include Everest, Heritage Blue, and Mudbath. Visit our Toyota dealership to find your favorite color, 4Runner for sale in Bozeman.

Interior & Technology Updates
The 2025 4Runner interior receives a much-needed redesign, with updated materials and a better layout across the board. Of course, it retains the features you love, including a spacious trunk with plenty of room for your camping gear or skis. One of the biggest upgrades to the interior of the 4Runner is the new infotainment center. An 8.0-inch screen is standard but can be replaced by a 14.0-inch display, as well as a 12.3-inch digital cluster. All models now get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Multiple USB-C ports can be found throughout the cabin, along with the option of adding a wireless phone charger. The non-hybrid has an optional 3rd-row seat, while the roll-down rear window remains untouched. Learn more about the new features in the 2025 4Runner with Toyota of Bozeman.
2025 4Runner vs. 2024 4Runner Powertrains
The 4Runner ditches the V-6 engine in favor of a turbocharged V-4 engine that can be had with or without a hybrid system. Both models are more powerful than the outgoing V-6, with the Hybrid 4Runner being the most powerful 4Runner ever created.
Model: | Powertrain: | Horsepower: | Torque (lb-ft): | City vs. Highway MPG |
2024 Toyota 4Runner | 4.0-liter V-6 | 270 | 278 | 16/19 |
2025 Toyota 4Runner | 2.4-liter turbo 4 | 278 | 317 | 20/26 |
2025 Toyota 4Runner Hybrid | 2.4-liter turbo 4 hybrid | 326 | 465 | 23/24 |
Other 2025 4Runner specs to note include a max towing capacity of 6,000 lbs, up from 5,000 lbs. of capacity in the 2024 4Runner.
Recapping the 2025 4Runner
The 4Runner is a uniquely American SUV for a Japanese car maker. When it debuted in the 80’s, it borrowed notes from the successful Ford Bronco, turning a short-bed pickup into an SUV. The 2024 4Runner belonged to the fifth generation, which debuted in 2009. For 15 years, the 4Runner offered unique off-road thrills, thanks to a plethora of added equipment and the trusty Tacoma base. While the 2024 4Runner remains an excellent SUV, its age was starting to show, especially regarding interior design and technology.
